Charbonneau development proposed, Canby Ferry waylaid by mechanical failures and Fun in the Park returns

Some residents of Charbonneau appealed a Wilsonville Planning Commission approval of French Prairie Retirement Village, which would include 70 cottage units, apartments and a nursing facility. Reasons for opposition included zoning incompatability, density and traffic.

July 30, 1997

A mechanical failure that waylaid the Canby Ferry for two days couldn't have picked worse timing, as an RV fire on I-5 brought traffic to a standstill. Drivers able to make it to the ferry, hoping to cross the river and avoid the backup, were met with a docked ferry.

Aug. 1, 2007

Six-hundred-plus volunteers helped make the seventh annual Fun in the Park event possible. The event was created to fill the gap created when the longstanding Boones Ferry Days was discontinued in the late '90s.
