Opinion: Tootie Smith needs to apologize for COVID response
On April 27, Tootie Smith sent an email to the county residents, as Clackamas County chair, attacking our state's response to the pandemic as "an abject failure." Even if one is unaware of Tootie Smith's political bent, it's obvious that her message is in line with her infamous Facebook Thanksgiving post.
She is using the public resource of the county, and her status as chair, to further the personal stance that she has taken on Facebook. Her personal stance is her personal stance, and belongs on Facebook. As chair, she needs to apologize for her lapse in ethics and her effort trying to further politicize the pandemic.
