Cross country teams compete in state meet
Wilsonville had plenty of runners representing at the state cross country meet at Lane Community College in Eugene this past weekend on Nov. 4. The team took boys team took tenth place overall, and the girls sixth.
For the boys team, senior Nicholas Whitaker took 31st place with a time of 16 minutes and 46 seconds (16:46). Following behind him for Wilsonville was junior Jack Burns with a time of 17:15 to take the 50th spot. Senior Jonathan Palmer came in just two places behind with a run of 17:16. Junior Joseph Wilde claimed the 66th spot, turning in a time of 17:47, and rounding out the top Wildcat top five for the boys was junior Jack Roche with a time of 18:19. Other Wilsonville runners included junior Zachary Smith in 87th place (18:26) and junior Isaac Boger (18:36) in 88th place.
The girls team had standout sophomore runner Samantha Prusse finish in the 15th spot with a time of 19:38. Junior Sophia Somerscales was the next runner in for Wilsonville with a time of 20:16 to claim the 31st spot, followed shortly thereafter by junior Katelyn Dougall in 37th with a time of 20:23. Five spots later, junior Angel Bohn finished her 5,000 meter run with a time of 20:30, and rounding out Wilsonville's top five girl runners was junior Kate Stewart with a time of 20:39. Two other Wildcat girls competed on Saturday; freshman Ava Stenstrom in 65th place (21:12) and sophomore Ciera Ross (21:15) in 67th.
