Wilsonville wrestlers take top spots in Washington
LACY, WA--The Wildcats got their wrestling season off to a good start. The team claimed first place in a tournament hosted by Timberline High School over the weekend with an overall score of 206 points, besting the second place team Rogers High School by 48.5 points.
In the 106 pound weight class, Wilsonville's Adzel Villanueva took first place in his bracket. Villanueva bested Rogers' Adriano Montano and Olympia's Jackson Twitty by decision and fall respectively.
Wilsonville's Caleb Wilde took second place in the 113 pound division. Wilde made his way to the final round of his bracket by pinning two of his opponents and decisioning the third before falling to Roger's Cayden Jordan in the last match.
In the 126 pound weight class, the Wildcat's Isaac Quesada won his bracket with a trio of dominant decisions over Skyview's Zach Ewing, River Ridge's Josh Lile, and Timberline's Jordan Bolibol.
At 152 pounds, Wilsonville freshman Tyson Resko took the top spot with a series of falls. Resko figures to make a good amount of noise this season.
In the 160 pound weight class, sophomore Wyatt Miller worked his through four opponents to take the championship in his bracket. Miller recorded two falls and two decisions en route to his tournament win.
Wilsonville senior Andrew Gay competed at 170 pounds, and lost a close match on points to Spanaway Lake's Jaedon Hall. Gay had a first round bye, and then two pins heading into the finals match.
At 182 pounds, Wildcat senior Perry Rodenbeck took first place in his bracket after four straight pins.
Senior Jacob Stelle took third place in the 195 pound bracket.
