Wilsonville opponent in Capital City Classic announced
The opening match ups for the third annual Capital City Classic were released Tuesday, Dec. 5, and the defending 5A state champion Wildcats will find themselves opposite the Stayton Eagles on Dec. 18.
Wilsonville has been a powerhouse at the 5A level the last several years, making an appearance three consecutive finals, and winning the past two. Against Stayton, the Wildcats would have to be considered the favorites. Stayton competes at the 4A level, and the last several years has been unable to find a .500 record.
Other teams in the tournament to watch out for include the Clackamas Cavaliers, a 6A team that went 14-0 in league play last year, Mater Dei Crusaders out of Chula Vista, California that went 23-6 last year, and the Woodcreek Timberwolves out of Roseville, California. The Timberwolves were the Northern California open division champions, and the 32nd ranked team in the nation last year.

4 p.m. - Corvallis Spartans vs. Skyview Storm (WA)
5:30 p.m. - Springfield Millers vs. Silverton Foxes
7 p.m. - Wilsonville Wildcats vs. Stayton Eagles
8:30 p.m. - McNary Celtics vs. Clackamas Cavaliers
4 p.m. - Crook County Cowboys vs. Woodcreek Timberwolves (CA)
5:30 p.m. - Lincoln Cardinals vs. Sprague Olympians
7 p.m. - Cleveland Warriors vs. Red Mountain Lions (AZ)
8:30 p.m. - North Salem Vikings vs. Mater Dei Crusaders (CA)
