Sarah Harms earns fourth league honor
Troy—For the third week in a row and fourth time this season, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete and Wilsonville alumna Sarah Harms was named the Liberty League Pitcher of the Week on April 25.
Harms was 2-0, both complete-game wins, with a 1.69 ERA in RPI's 4-0 week. The senior is currently on a five-game win streak, all against conference opponents. Harms, who is currently 14-4 on the season, threw 16.0 innings with 11 strikeouts, one walk and three earned runs against. The ace faced 63 batters holding them to a batting average of .217.
In her first appearance of the week, Harms registered a career-high seven strikeouts in a 7-1 win over Clarkson. She gave up only three hits over 7.0 innings. She then followed up her performance over the Golden knights in a 3-2, nine innings win over Skidmore. She pitched all 9.0 innings for the red and white while only giving up two runs against 39 batters. Harms registered four K's while throwing 137 total pitches. The senior currently has the lowest ERA in conference play (0.80) and wins (seven).
Harms currently has a 1.86 ERA on the season over 94.0 innings pitched. She has tallied 56 strikeouts while holding her opponents to .225 batting average. The senior has appeared in 20 appearances with three shutouts.
Rensselaer (21-9, 11-1 Liberty League) is currently on an eight-game win streak, which is its the longest in program history. Prior to the sweep, the longest conference win streak was seven games in 2014. Additionally, the Cherry and White's last eight-game win streak was in 2016. Rensselaer has won 10 straight games at home, dating back to last season.
RPI currently tops the Liberty League at 11-1, and has sealed home field advantage for the conference playoffs.
