Wilsonville girls improve to 8-0 in NWOC
As Wilsonville's girls'
basketball team begins its second tour of the Northwest Oregon Conference (NWOC), they have yet to taste defeat.
The most recent league foes to fall against Wilsonville were Parkrose (1-7 in NWOC play, 6-12 overall) Tuesday, Jan. 29, and St. Helens (5-3 in NWOC play, 11-7 overall) Friday, Feb. 1. Wilsonville downed the Broncos 70-42, and performed even better against St. Helens by winning 81-24.
The Wildcats are on a 13-game win streak that began Wednesday, Dec. 19 when they defeated the No. 1 4A team Banks 70-54. Wilsonville, still ranked No. 1, also has the most potent offense in the state at 5A having scored 1,245 points. That scoring total came courtesy of several players including sophomores Emilia Bishop and Sydney Burns, and seniors Cydney Gutridge, Hannah McKinney and Teagan McNamee. Though now injured, seniors Reese Timm and Emily Scanlan also contributed earlier in the season.
Wilsonville had just one game this week against Hillsboro (4-4 in NWOC play, 10-8 overall) Tuesday, after the Spokesman went to press.
