A pair of singles players will be Wilsonville's representatives at state meet

PMG FILE PHOTO: JIM BESEDA - Wilsonville senior Izabella Gonzalez finished fourth place in the NWOC districts to advance to the state tournament. The girls tennis team will have a pair of representatives at the state tournament this Friday and Saturday. On May 17, junior Madeleine Klein and senior Isabella Gonzalez will both take part in the final push toward a state title at Portland Tennis Center.

Klein entered the district tournament as the fourth seed, and battled her way to a third-place finish. Conversely, Gonzalez entered as the third seed and wound up in fourth place.

In the opening round of the state tournament, Klein will face off with Churchill junior Youha Tanaka. On the same side of the bracket, Gonzalez will face off with Ashland freshman Sascha Wells.

Klein returns to the state tournament after securing a spot on the doubles team last year with now-sophomore Clarissa Klein.

The Northwest Oregon Conference singles champion was La Salle Prep junior Ashley Smith, and the doubles champions were Parkrose sophomore Ikatonga Camila-Napa'a and junior Maria Moreno.
