Antonson named Northwest Oregon Conference (NWOC) player of the year, first team all-league

COURTESY PHOTO: GREG ARTMAN - Wilsonville senior Trevor Antonson was named NWOC player of the year. Wilsonville's baseball team was able to rake in the Northwest Oregon Conference (NWOC) league honors when the season was said and done, including a player of the year nod.

Senior and Seattle University commit Trevor Antonson was named the NWOC player of the year, and also received first team honors for his work as an infielder. As an infielder, Antonson's defense was strong but at the plate he was an absolute menace, clobbering home runs when he got the chance. One particularly strong example was the grand slam he hit in the third game of the series against Scappoose to seal the team's final victory of the season.

Fellow senior Nolan Thebiay and junior Cole Kleckner also were named first team all-league players for their work in the outfield, and Thebiay for his work from the mound as well.

Antonson, Kleckner and Thebiay were named first team all-state for their work in the infield and outfield respectively. Those players earned those distinctions in the 4-3 showdown with Pendleton in the opening round of the 5A playoffs.

A pair of juniors earned honorable mentions for their work in the outfield and as pitcher, Jarrod Seibel and Andrew Classen respectively.

Wilsonville ended its season with a 19-9 record.
