Wilsonville advances to 5A girls soccer state championship game
Wilsonville has wanted another shot at Crescent Valley.
The Wildcats will get it, Saturday, for the Class 5A girls soccer state championship.
Behind three more goals from sophomore forward Lindsey Antonson, Wilsonville defeated Churchill 6-1 Tuesday night in the semifinals.
Antonson has scored 11 goals in the Wildcats three playoff games. Wilsonville has outscored its three playoff opponents by a combined 19-2.
Against Churchill, it was Renee Lee that put the Wildcats up 1-0 in the eighth minute. Antonson then extended Wilsonville's lead to 2-0 in the 19th minute.
After Churchill scored 13 minutes into the second half, Antonson missed a penalty kick. But the Wildcats went up 3-1 less than a minute later, scoring on a Lancers own goal, trying to clear a shot from Antonson.
After Haley Stahl scored on a corner kick, Antonson put two more balls in the back of the net in the 61st and 68th minutes to complete the scoring.
The Wildcats will play Crescent Valley, the No. 1 seed and defending state champions, Saturday at Hillsboro Stadium.
The Raiders defeated Wilsonville 2-1 in the first round of the 2018 playoffs, and then again by the same score this season at Crescent Valley on Sept. 12.
The Raiders have outscored their three playoff opponents 11-0, including a 1-0 win over North Eugene Tuesday in the semifinals.
