Wilsonville boys, Milwaukie's Logan Law win at NWOC district meet
The Wilsonville boys cross country team finished right where it wanted to — on top.
And so did Milwaukie sophomore Logan Law.
Both the Wildcats and Law finished their 2021 seasons in fine fashion at the Northwest Oregon Conference district meet, held at Portland International Raceway on Thursday, April 8.
The Wildcats did their part by landing their top three runners among the meet's top four finishers and all five of their varsity scorers among the meet's top 10.
That group included: sophomore Mason Weisgerber (second at 16 minutes, 18.40 seconds); senior Ben Sheirbon (third at 16:41.0); junior Ben McClellan (fourth at 16:50.80); junior Jacob McClelland (eighth at 17:02.80); and sophomore Caden Edwards (10th at 17:24.70).
Together, their efforts helped the David Barkley-coached Wildcats win the meet with 22 points. The complete team scoring included: Wilsonville 22, Scappoose 66, La Salle 76, Putnam 115, Hillsboro 140, Parkrose 140, St. Helens 176.
For Milwaukie, Law stepped up big-time to win the meet with a time of 16:13.90, fast enough to edge Weisgerber by almost five seconds. The victory capped a perfect season by Law that saw him win all four events he entered and post a season's-best time while winning the NWOC title.
Highlights for other local teams included: La Salle senior Bradley Kiltow led the Falcons by finishing sixth overall at 16:56.20; and Putnam senior Grant Ferguson paced the Kingsmen in ninth at 17:16.60.
