Gathered in the cafeteria with friends, families and coaches, Tacla and Barkley both made their college choices official, with Barkley signing on to pursue her education and running career at the University of Arizona, while Tacla will continue his education and baseball career at Chemeketa Community College in Salem.

Barkley was the Wildcats' top runner in the 1,500 meters and 3,000 this spring, winning four of her five 1,500s this year and two of three races in the 3,000. She was even better during cross country, going unbeaten at 5,000 meters and winning the Northwest Oregon Conference district title with a time of 19 minutes, 16.2 seconds.

During his senior season, Tacla — a second baseman — batted .304 (14 for 46) at the plate with nine runs scored, seven RBIs and a pair of doubles**. His Wildcats, playing an extremely tough schedule against a combination of 6A powerhouses and the Northwest Oregon Conference's best teams, went 5-3 in NWOC play and 6-8 overall.
