Freshmen, sophomore parent night set at WHS

Wilsonville High School is hosting an event for parents of freshmen and sophomores Oct. 9 starting at 6:30 p.m. in The Pointe. School counselors and the college and career coordinator will discuss graduation requirements, four-year academic planning, Advanced Placement opportunities, college and career planning and strategies to maximize students’ academic success.

‘Little Women’ tickets now on sale

The theater department at Wilsonville High School will debut its production of “Little Women, the Musical” on Oct. 10. Tickets are now available online at or at the box office the night of the show.

The show chronicles the lives of the four March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, in Civil War-era Massachusetts and New York. Performances will take place at 7 p.m. Oct. 10, 11, 12, 16, 17 and 19. A matinee will be offered Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students.

Recreational basketball registration is open

Boys and girls in third through eighth grade are invited to register for Wilsonville’s recreational basketball league. The league’s focus is on developing basketball skills and having fun. No tryouts are required.

This year, the league is offering a program for students in grades six through eight. The entire program will be working with a new schedule. Games will take place on Saturdays from December through February.

K-8 cheerleaders wanted

Wilsonville High School’s cheer team invites all interested students from kindergarten through eighth grade to attend a one-day cheer clinic Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. that day.

Clinic participants will learn material to perform at halftime of the varsity football game Oct. 18. The clinic fee is $20, and that includes a T-shirt and free admission for one parent to the football game.
