Students represent city, school district at Oregon Music Education Association event

Students from Wilsonville schools were selected to represent the city at the Oregon Music Education Association’s annual all-state musical event, held Jan. 16-19 at Oregon State University. Attendees were selected either by audition or nomination.

“It takes a lot of extra practice and dedication to make it to All-State,” John Hillan, a music teacher at Lowrie Primary School, said. “Once there, students face long rehearsals that test their focus and endurance, while at the same time students are producing music at the highest levels with renowned guest conductors.”

Below are the names of the students who attended the OMEA, listed by school.

Boeckman Creek Primary School

Kate Jeffries, Tyson Resko. Joshua Stewart and Chanelle Woods.

Lowrie Primary School

Daniel Lounsbury, Mihayla Smith and Annija Sproles.

Inza R. Wood Middle School

All-State Middle School Band: Leo Sproles and McKenna Heald.

All-State Middle School Orchestra: Emma Anderson, Makayla Bruce, Sydney Byun, Vincent Nguyen and Emily Nguyen.

All-State Middle School Young Men’s Choir: Justin Carpenter, Michael Dart, Jared Redmon and Drafis Santer.

All-State Middle School Young Women’s Choir: Julianna Cullen, Hana Johnson, Imani Wolery, Chloe Clarke, Peyton Guenther and Sara Hutchins.

Wilsonville High School

All-State High School Orchestra: Grant Kresge, Hanna Hartt and Jennifer Ryu.

All-State High School Mixed Choir: Kylee Kamikawa, Izzy Ochocki, Elizabeth Lauthner, Aubrey Slaughter and Keaton Whittaker.
