COURTESY PHOTO - WHS art students, along with art teacher Christopher Shotola-Hardt and muralist and WHS graduate Derek Leitch, crafted a space mural. With donated funds from the Charbonneau Art Society, Wilsonville High School students in the fine arts program crafted a space mural and painted two-dimensional characters with face cutouts on wheels.

They originally were constructed as aesthetic set pieces for the space-themed FIRST Robotics Pacific Northwest Wilsonville District event in March.

The spray-painted mural and space characters — including an astronaut, a rocket ship and Yoda — are titled "Out of This World" and were created under the guidance of an artist in residence. The pieces are on loan to the museum and potentially could be added to the museum's permanent collection.
