Licensed or permitted drivers ages 15-21 are invited to participate in hands-on lessons to learn how to control their vehicle in unpredictable situations based on their car's handling limits.
The Tire Rack Street Survival School will help drivers make good decisions and react quickly in response to various traffic situations or the behavior of other drivers.
The full-day event will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Portland International Raceway, 1940 N. Victory Blvd. The school is $95 and will take place rain or shine.
The day will consist of both classroom and in-car exercises. Students will bring their own vehicle and work on skid control, perform lane changes and threshold breaking exercises, among other activities with in-car driving instructors.
In the classroom, students will learn about proper seating and hand positions, mirror placement, driving distractions and more.
