Car damages Wilsonville school bus
A Wilsonville school bus was in a minor traffic accident Thursday morning after a sedan accidentally backed into the bus, which was on the way to drop students off at Boones Ferry Primary.
There were 26 students on board the bus, according to Koin 6 News, a partner of Pamplin Media Group, and no injuries were reported.
Bus No. 2 was at its second to last stop when the crash occurred at the intersection of Rebekah Lane and Southwest Rogue Lane.
Students boarded a second bus and arrived at school before 8:30 a.m.
"I am grateful for such an amazing team that responded so quickly to this unexpected situation to support our students," said Boones Ferry Principal Michelle Jensen in an email sent to families Sept. 12. "Medical professionals and officials from First Student quickly arrived at the scene of the accident to check on students and the bus driver."
The bus was damaged and was out of operation for the day.
"It doesn't happen often at all," said West Linn-Wilsonville Communications Director Andrew Kilstrom. "It might have happened once or twice. When it does (happen), it's typically in a parking lot — a car backing out of a parking lot —not usually on the road."
Jensen and the school counselor checked in on students and immediately contacted families.
