Starting July 1, Greg James will join the Bobcat team. James said he hopes to continue equity and inclusion work in the school district.

After stints as an educational leader in disparate parts of the world, Greg James will plant his roots in the West Linn-Wilsonville School District this fall.

On Monday, Feb. 28, the district announced that James will take over as the new principal of Boeckman Creek Primary School. Director of Human Resources Shyla Waldern said the district selected James for his experience and "leadership values" displayed during the interview process.

"He spoke to the importance of relationships and building trust, collaborating with staff to collectively identify and accomplish school goals, and to building on the instructional practices work at Boeckman Creek Primary School," said Waldern in a letter to the community.

During his almost two decades in education, James has held teaching, principal and other leadership positions. Before joining the district, James worked for the International School of Kenya in Nairobi for three years and the International School of Nido de Aguilas in Santiago, Chile before that.

James holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Oregon and a Doctorate in educational leadership from Concordia University in Chicago, Illinois.

"Greg expressed his excitement in working with the diverse community of students and parents at Boeckman Creek and in continuing the equity and inclusion work in our school community," said Waldern.

James will replace Lindy Sproul, who has served as Boeckman Creek's principal since 2010.
