Corrections officer indicted for allegedly distributing drugs in Coffee Creek
Coffee Creek Correctional Facility corrections officer and Sherwood resident Richard Steven Alberts II allegedly distributed methamphetamine and heroin into the prison in Wilsonville.
Alberts II, 31, and co-conspirator Joseph Lucio Jimenez were indicted in federal court with conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and distribution of heroin.
Alberts II appeared in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge John Jelderks Dec. 23.
The Oregon Department of Corrections had placed Alberts II on administrative leave pending the investigation and Alberts II was released from custody pending the trail, which is slated for Feb. 25. Jimenez is in custody on an unrelated felon in possession of a firearm charge and will remain in custody.
The FBI, Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department of Corrections Office of Inspector General investigated the case and Assistant U.S. Attorneys for the District of Oregon Craig Gabriel and Scott Bradford are serving as prosecutors.
