The News-Times and Hillsboro Tribune are looking a full-time multi-media reporter to join our team in western Washington County.
News-Times is a weekly newspaper covering Forest Grove, Gaston, Banks and rural Washington County. Hillsboro Tribune is a weekly newspaper serving Hillsboro and North Plains. The position is based in Forest Grove, where you'll work in partnership with the staff of these newspapers and our other Washington County publications. News-Times and Hillsboro Tribune are part of the Pamplin Media Group, a locally-owned company that includes more than 20 weekly newspapers and the Portland Tribune, and is a family-owned company based in Portland.
You will be a reporter for our weekly print and daily digital and social media products, and collaborate on some annual special sections and web-based projects. Beat includes news and feature angles on city government, law enforcement, schools and features.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in journalism and at least two years of professional reporting experience. You will demonstrate excellent time management skills and an ability to write engaging, accurate stories on deadline. Although you may work with a professional photographer, you should be able to shoot photos for your own stories when needed. You will use social media to share your work and engage our audience across Pamplin and community-based media, work well on deadlines, and demonstrate an ability to manage a flexible work schedule that includes occasional evenings and weekends. We are a digital-first operation and you will be expected to post content independent of weekly publication schedules, often on a daily basis.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus and could lead to additional opportunities.

The Contract Publishing Department at Pamplin Media Group, Lake Road is looking for a full-time sales associate to join our team. The qualified candidate will work with Chambers of Commerce and other clients to include: Tigard Chamber, East Portland, Happy Valley, North Clackamas, and West Columbia Gorge. Business Tribune twice weekly & OAME quarterly and Rose Car Races program magazine show publications are also included in this package. We are looking for a person with strong skills in print, digital and social media. If you are great in both written and in person sales and proposals, have a desire to grow, this position is for you. This position requires computer skills, driver's license and reliable transportation, but most importantly a "can do great attitude". The ability to work with a team is a must!

Oregon Capital Bureau Reporter

The Pamplin Media Group is looking for an experienced journalist to help staff the Oregon Capital Bureau in Salem. This position requires investigative and enterprise reporting skills, strong source development and interviewing talents, as well as the ability to produce reader-focused daily stories about the workings of state government. OCB reporters are expected to constantly ask themselves: "How does issue affect typical Oregonians? And, how do I produce an compelling story that makes the impact clear?" We are working to produce engaging, clearly understandable stories outside the usual mold of government reporting. This reporter must be equally comfortable busting out a quick scoop on a tight deadline and taking a deep dive into a complex issue that connects the dots for readers. This is a collaborative effort between reporters and editors. Journalists who are not open to re-thinking, re-reporting and re-writing need not apply.
OCB is a joint venture between Pamplin Media Group, EO Media Group and the Salem Reporter. The person who is chosen for this position will be a Pamplin Media Group employee but may report to a non-PMG editor based in Salem. The reporter will also work closely with PMG's digital editor, as OCB is a digital-first newsroom.
