Forest Grove News-Times and Hillsboro Tribune
The News-Times and Hillsboro Tribune are looking a full-time multi-media reporter to join our team in western Washington County.
News-Times is a weekly newspaper covering Forest Grove, Gaston, Banks and rural Washington County. Hillsboro Tribune is a weekly newspaper serving Hillsboro and North Plains. The position is based in Forest Grove, where you'll work in partnership with the staff of these newspapers and our other Washington County publications. News-Times and Hillsboro Tribune are part of the Pamplin Media Group, a locally-owned company that includes more than 20 weekly newspapers and the Portland Tribune, and is a family-owned company based in Portland.
You will be a reporter for our weekly print and daily digital and social media products, and collaborate on some annual special sections and web-based projects. Beat includes news and feature angles on city government, law enforcement, schools and features.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in journalism and at least two years of professional reporting experience. You will demonstrate excellent time management skills and an ability to write engaging, accurate stories on deadline. Although you may work with a professional photographer, you should be able to shoot photos for your own stories when needed. You will use social media to share your work and engage our audience across Pamplin and community-based media, work well on deadlines, and demonstrate an ability to manage a flexible work schedule that includes occasional evenings and weekends. We are a digital-first operation and you will be expected to post content independent of weekly publication schedules, often on a daily basis.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus and could lead to additional opportunities.
